What is space?
Just as ‘spring theory’ of particles could describe Boyle's Law for decades, m=E/c2, space-time warp etc. works and many philosophical slaves would happily regurgitate what Einstein himself couldn’t digest properly and argue gravitation as not a force but a question of geometry. Einstein predicted another ‘space theory’ because he was a great genius and hence, he knew very well the limitations of his ideas.
